The heart of Legantoo is the media library where all your media are organized. This chapter will show you how to create new categories, how to rename categories and media names, and how to delete categories and media. By creating new categories, you can confidently organize your media into genres, by year or by author. For example, you can provide the first category level with years, the next level with the authors, and then import your media there. The media library is thus very flexible to edit and offers numerous options for managing your media.
Open the main category with the right arrow key, the first subcategories appear. If you also open these with the right arrow key, further categories will appear if you have created them. In addition, the imported media are also listed there. The entries of the categories, subcategories and media are arranged alphabetically in order to facilitate a quick finding of the desired books.
If you want to create a new main category, then go to the menu „Edit“. There click on the item „New main category“. A window opens in which you can now enter the name of the new main category.
Next, select which file or media type you want to import and play in this main category. There are four formats available:
You can either select only one or several media types by placing a tick in the corresponding checkbox. In this way, combinations of books can be imported into the same category and soften the strong separation of media. For example, if you have the first volume of a trilogy as an audiobook, but the following two volumes are available as e-books, you can check the „Audio Only“ and „E-Books“ media types here and then import all three books into the newly created category.
Please note that the selected media type can not be changed later. However, it can be queried in the rename window (see below) for each category.
Furthermore, it should be noted that the media type is inherited. This means that it also automatically applies to all subcategories created in this main category.
Then click on the „OK“ button and save the main category. You will now find your new main category at the top level of the category list in the library.
Pick a main category in the category list, such as DAISY, in which you want to create a new category. Now open the menu and navigate to the main menu item „Edit“. Click on the menu item „New category“. A dialog box opens in which you can give the new category a name. Then confirm your input by clicking on the OK button. Now the new category is a subcategory in the category DAISY. It allows you to personalize your library and import and archive your media into appropriate subcategories.
If you want to delete a created category or an imported medium, then place yourself on the relevant entry in the category or media list. Go to the main menu „Edit“ and there click on the menu item „Delete“. Alternatively, you can also use the Backspace key on your keyboard. You also have the option of finding and executing the deletion function in the context menu.
Legantoo then asks you if you are sure you want to delete the entry. Confirm this question with „Yes“ to start the process or cancel it by clicking the „No“ button.
In addition, there is a checkbox in this confirm window with which you can decide by ticking whether you only want to delete the links or the corresponding files. If you also delete the media files, they will not only be removed from Legantoo, but also from your hard drive.
Please note! If you delete categories in which there are further subcategories and media, then they are also irrevocably deleted.
You can also rename created categories and imported media. To do this, place yourself on the entry to be changed. Open the menu, navigate to the menu item „Edit“ and then activate the menu item „Rename“. The rename function can also be found in the context menu. A dialog box appears with an input field in which you can give the category or the medium a new name. The changed name of the category or medium can now be found in your library and is sorted alphabetically.
You can also move self-created categories and imported media. This is very useful if, for example, you have created a new subcategory in an incorrect parent category, or if you have imported a medium into the wrong subcategory and you want to change it. Place yourself on the category or medium to be moved and open the „Edit“ menu. Find the menu item „Move“ and click on it. A dialog box opens with a drop-down list in which you can now select the desired target category. Confirm your selection with the OK button. Now you can find the moved subcategory or medium in the library at the new location.
