The ability to sync settings, playback positions, bookmarks and notes with the Dropbox, and make it available to other Legantoo-enabled devices, is a unique selling proposition of a daisy-software like Legantoo. The synchronization of these data makes working with Legantoo very flexible and convenient. Synchronizing the playback positions via the Dropbox to all connected devices allows you to stop reading a book on one device and resume it at the same point on another, without having to spend a long time finding the last position. Also very helpful is the synchronization of the settings. You only need to make your desired settings on one device. By syncing with the Dropbox you'll have them in Legantoo on all your other devices as well. If you change your settings there, they will be synced back to all other devices that are connected to the Dropbox. If you're a student, syncing bookmarks and notes is probably a feature you'll never want to do without. You are at school or at university and put notes and bookmarks in your textbooks. On your way home by bus and train, you can now easily go through the text again in peace and can easily read your notes from the university or school again. At home you realize that you have not understood any of the text and can make a note in the unclear place so as not to forget your teacher or professor the next day. You will not want to give up these comfortable functions in a short time.
Now you are probably already curious about these great features of Legantoo and would like to try them out. Since the program version 1.8.0, creating a Legantoo connection to your Dropbox has become even easier than it already was in the previous versions.
To set up the connection: Press the VoiceOver + M keys and navigate to the Connection menu. Find the menu item „Manage external services“ and open the connection manager. The list shows you which cloud services are available. Select the „Dropbox“ entry and navigate with the VoiceOver + right arrow keys to the „Connect“ button. Press the VoiceOver + spacebar keys and your default browser will open to enter your credentials. Continue to the „Connect“ button and press the VoiceOver + spacebar keys to confirm.
Please note that to connect Legantoo to Dropbox you need to have your own Dropbox account. If you have not yet registered a Dropbox account, then you must go for it.
A window opens with a so-called authorization of the API request. This will ask you if you want Leganto to access your Dropbox. If you want this, then click on the „Allow“ button. Legantoo has now set up the connection to your Dropbox and you can close the browser.
The focus of your screen reader is now back in the user interface of the connection manager. Navigate to the Close button and press the VoiceOver + spacebar keys. Now you can import your zipped media from the Dropbox to Legantoo and export books from the library to Dropbox.
Please note that you need to set up the Dropbox connection separately on each of your devices in order to import or export media, as well as to synchronize bookmarks, notes, reading positions, and settings. A Dropbox connection set up on a new device will not affect the connection of any of your other devices. This also applies to the disconnection from the Dropbox on one of your devices. Again, the connections remain on all other devices.
If you also want to synchronize bookmarks, notes, reading positions and settings between your devices, then you have to switch on the Dropbox connection in the program settings on the „Synchronization“ tab. To do this, open the menu bar with the shortcut VoiceOver + M and navigate to the Tools menu and then to the menu item „Settings“. In the window that opens, use the VoiceOver + arrow keys to navigate to the Synchronization tab. Press the VoiceOver + right arrow keys once, interact with the list of connected cloud services, and select Dropbox. Now use the arrow key to navigate up, then switch the synchronization off again. Use the VoiceOver + right arrow keys to navigate to the OK button to save the setting you made.
If you would like to disconnect the Dropbox, open the connection manager again. Continue to navigate to the „Disconnect“ button and press the VoiceOver + spacebar keys. Legantoo's connection to your Dropbox is now disabled. Close the Connection Manager by pressing the VoiceOver + spacebar keys on the Close button.
