The heart of Legantoo is the media library where all your media are organized. This chapter will show you how to create new categories, how to rename categories and media names, and how to delete categories and media. By creating new categories, you can confidently organize your media into genres, by year or by author. For example, you can provide the first category level with years, the next level with the authors, and then import your media. The media library is thus very flexible to edit and offers numerous options for managing your media.
If you open a main category with a double tap, the first subcategories appear. If you also open these with a double tap, further categories will appear if you have created them. In addition, the imported media are also listed there. The entries of the categories, subcategories and media are arranged alphabetically in order to facilitate a quick finding of the desired books.
If you want to create a new main category, double-tap the „More options“ button. There click on the item „New category“. A window opens in which you can now enter the name of the new main category.
Next, select which file or media type you want to import and play in this main category. There are four formats available:
You can either select only one or several media types by placing a tick in the corresponding checkbox. In this way, combinations of books can be imported into the same category and soften the strong separation of media. For example, if you have the first volume of a trilogy as an audiobook, but the following two volumes are available as e-books, you can check the „Audio Only“ and „E-Books“ media types here and then import all three books into the newly created category.
Please note that the selected media type can not be changed later. However, it can be queried in the rename window (see below) for each category.
Furthermore, it should be noted that the media type is inherited, i. It also automatically applies to all subcategories created in this main category.
Then click on the „OK“ button and save the main category. You will now find your new main category at the top level of the category list in the library.
Pick a main category in the category list, such as DAISY, where you want to create a new category and double-tap it. Double-tap the „More Options“ button and then navigate to the entry „New category“ and open it with a double tap. A dialog box opens in which you can give the new category a name. Then confirm your input with a double tap on „OK“. Now the new category is a subcategory in the category DAISY. It allows you to personalize your library and import and archive your media into appropriate subcategories.
If you now want to delete one or more categories or imported media, then open the category in which the entry to be deleted is located. To remove a main category just stay at the top category level. Then double-tap the „More Options“ button and navigate to the „Delete“ item by swiping. It opens a window with all categories and media that are at this category level and are erasable. Double-tick each category and medium with a checkmark that you want to remove. In this way, you can delete several entries at once. Once you have selected all the categories and media you want to delete, double-tap the „Done“ button.
Legantoo then asks you if you are sure you want to delete the entries. Confirm this question with „Yes“ to start the process or cancel it by clicking the „No“ button.
In addition, there is a checkbox in this confirmation window with which you can decide by ticking whether you only want to delete the links or the corresponding files. If you also delete the media files, they will not only be removed from Legantoo, but also from your mobile storage or from the memory card.
Please note! If you delete categories in which there are further subcategories and media, then they are also irrevocably deleted.
You can also rename created categories and imported media. To do this, open the category in which the subcategory or medium you want to rename is located. Double-tap the „More Options“ button and navigate to the „Rename“ item. Select this by double-tapping. It opens a window with all categories and media whose names can be changed. Double-tap to select the corresponding entry you want to rename and double-tap the Done button. Now a window opens with an input field in which you can enter the new name of the category or medium. Then double-tap the „OK“ button to complete the process. The changed name of the category or medium can now be found in your library and is sorted alphabetically.
You have the possibility to create a new media library or to select an existing media library. To do this, double-tap the „More options“ button and navigate to „Choose another library“. A window will open in which you can choose to create a blank new library or open an existing library.
If you have chosen the option „Continue using existing library“ then you have to specify the location of the existing library. To do this, double-tap the „Browse“ button and find the folder of your library and double-click „OK“.
If you ticked the entry „Create a new (empty) library“ then you have the possibility to select the place where you want to save the new library. Double-tap the „Browse“ button, select the appropriate folder and double-tap „OK“.
Or you can just keep Legantoo's default folder. Then navigate to the Done button and double tap to confirm. With this you have created the new media library or opened an existing media library.
