The ability to sync settings, playback positions, bookmarks, and notes with the Dropbox and make it available to other Legantoo devices is a unique feature of Legantoo. The synchronization of these data makes working with Legantoo very flexible and convenient. Synchronizing the playback positions via Dropbox to all connected devices allows you to stop reading a book on one device and resume it at the same point in another without having to spend a long time finding the last position. Also very helpful is the synchronization of the settings. You only need to make your desired settings on one device. By syncing with the Dropbox you'll have them in Legantoo on all your other devices as well. If you change your settings there, they will be synced back to all other devices connected to the Dropbox. If you're a student, syncing bookmarks and notes is probably a feature you'll never want to do without. You are at school or at university and put notes and bookmarks in your textbooks. On your way home by bus and train, you can now easily go through the text again in peace and can easily read your notes from the university or school again. At home you realize that you have not understood any of the text and can make a note in the unclear place so as not to forget your teacher or professor the next day. You will not want to give up these comfortable functions in a short time.
Now you are probably already curious about these great features of Legantoo and would like to try this out.
To set up the connection: Double-tap the „More Options“ button. Navigate in the list to the entry „Preferences“ and open it with a double tap. Navigate to the „Synchronization“ setting. Here you can double-tap in the checkbox to activate the Dropbox connection.
Please note that to connect Legantoo to Dropbox you need to have your own Dropbox account. If you have not yet registered a Dropbox account, then you must make up for it.
A window opens, asking you if you want to generate a new key. This key is necessary as it allows access to all devices. Confirm this on the „Join Now“ button. Now a window opens in your browser in which you must enter your login data for your Dropbox account. Enter your username and password there. Then log in to your Dropbox. A window opens with a so-called authorization of the API request. This will ask you if you want Legantoo to access your Dropbox. If you want this, then click on the „Allow“ button. The authorization key generated in the background is now automatically transferred to Legantoo and the window displays a corresponding message. Now click on „Done“ to complete the authorization process.
The focus of your screen reader is then back in the settings window of Legantoo. If you continue to swipe here, you will find the items „Settings“, „Playback position“, „Bookmarks“ and „Notes“. You can activate or deactivate each of these checkboxes. When enabled, this information is automatically synchronized with Dropbox.
If the Dropbox setup was successful, double-tap the „Back“ or „Move Up“ button to exit the settings and return to the main Legantoo window.
If you already have a Dropbox key, you can also import it in the „Synchronization“ settings window. In this case, you do not need to reconnect to Dropbox. Connect your mobile device to your computer and copy the file to the memory card or internal storage to make the key file available for import. You simply navigate to the „More Options“ button and double-tap it. Then select the menu item „Import key“ from the list with a double tap. It opens a folder and file window in which you can search the file. When you have found the key file, click on the „Open“ button. Now the key is imported to Legantoo and at the end you will see a dialog prompting if the import was successful or not. Now simply activate the Dropbox by ticking the checkbox and the connection is established.
If you have Legantoo installed on a different device, and you want to sync via the Dropbox, then you need to export the key from Legantoo with the active connection to Dropbox to be able to import it into Legantoo on other devices. Double-tap the „More Options“ button on the „Synchronization“ tab in the settings window and then the „Export key“ menu item. It now opens a folder and file window. Indicate here where you want to save the key on your device. Double-tap the „Save“ button and the file will be saved to the selected folder on your device. Afterwards, a dialog window will show you whether the file export was successful or not. You can now import the saved key into Legantoo versions on other devices.
If you would like to generate a new key, click on the „More Options“ button in the „Synchronization“ window and then on „Generate key“. The process is then the same as described above under „Connection to the Dropbox“.
